Police are investigating a fatal two-car crash in southwest Bakersfield.
It happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning at the intersection of Stockdale Highway and Coffee Road where a man was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman died at the hospital. Several passengers in the vehicles suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Police believe alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the accident.
